SER-201

SER-201 is a POZ-chemotherapeutic agent conjugate that has been created to address a wide range of cancers but may have particular efficacy in tumors that have an active uptake of polymer conjugates via the “enhanced permeation and retention” (EPR) effect. Drug conjugate size is of critical importance in the accumulation of drugs at the tumor site. Serina has performed studies showing that the combination of drug size and large payload delivery may have benefits beyond the first generation polymer-drug concepts currently being tested.

Preliminary pre-clinical studies on SER-201 are shown below (Figure 1).

Figure 1 : Xenograft study of Effect of Irinotecan vs SER-201 at various doses on the growth of HT-29 human colorectal cancer in nude mice. SER-201 at medium and high dose markedly delays the growth of HT-29 colorectal carcinoma in this experiment - even though the HT-29 cancer is resistant to irinotecan at equivalent doses.
